Cornea & Refractive
What is Keratoconus?

Keratoconus is a degenerative disorder of the eye that leads to distortion of vision such as streaking, multiple images, a higher sensitivity to light, eye strain and headaches.

It causes the cornea to thin, leading to a structural change to a more conical shape than the natural gradual curve.

Keratoconus Symptoms

The common symptoms can be associated with other eye conditions. Therefore, simply recognizing symptoms does not by itself diagnose keratoconus.

This eye condition requires a diagnosis from an experienced ophthalmologist trained not only in recognizing the symptoms but also in observing signs of keratoconus via measurements (keratometry, corneal topography) and slit-lamp examination.
