Cao Thang Eye Hospital’s Corneal & Refractive Service, headed by Dr. Huynh Trang, comprises specialists in Keratoconus diagnosis and treatments.
The cornea is the transparent layer that is on the outside of your eye to serve as a protective layer and refractive is the bending of the light within the human eye.
Keratoconus is a degenerative disorder of the eye that leads to distortion of vision such as streaking, multiple images, a higher sensitivity to light, eye strain and headaches.
It causes the cornea to thin, leading to a structural change to a more conical shape than the natural gradual curve.
The common symptoms can be associated with other eye conditions. Therefore, simply recognizing symptoms does not by itself diagnose keratoconus.
This eye condition requires a diagnosis from an experienced ophthalmologist trained not only in recognizing the symptoms but also in observing signs of keratoconus via measurements (keratometry, corneal topography) and slit-lamp examination.
